Chapter Camp is......AMAZING!
Reserve the week after final exams for Chapter Camp 2008! May 17th- 23rd Chapter Camp is a week of hanging out together and getting to know God more. We stay at Lake Champion, a camp in Glenspey, NY. It's beautiful! There's a lake for canoeing, swimming, and the Blob (the same thing as in the movie "Heavyweights"). There are basketball courts, a rockclimbing wall, a "ropes course" high up in the trees, frisbee golf, and a zip line that begins at the top of a hill and dumps you in the lake. Excellent food. Very comfortable cabins (yes, with bathrooms and electricity). One of the best parts: it's like being at school without the schoolwork! You get to enjoy being with all these fun people without any stress hanging over you! Swarthmore and Haverford students are with us, as well as students from other schools like Bucknell, University of Delaware, Lehigh, etc. But what's the purpose of all this, in addition to having a good time? We really dig into God's word. In about two or three sessions a day, we meet in groups to carefully study Scripture passages. There are different "tracks" or studies to choose from: the book of Mark, Genesis, seniors' track, and a leaders' track. The Intervarsity staff that lead the groups are very well prepared and dynamic conversation facilitators. People ask the hard questions. Alot of students at Chapter Camp study the bible as they have never studied it before, finding it more rich and exciting than they ever expected. We also have a worship time every evening and an optional prayer time. After a physically, mentally and emotionally draining finals time, Chapter Camp might be the last thing you want to do. You just want to go home and crash. But once you get there, you will be so glad you came! It's refreshing and fun, and unquestionably worth it! If you're unsure about going, or need convincing, talk to Martha Vidauri, Leah Blankenship, Amanda Fegley, Sarah Tabi, or others who have gone before!
