The Extreme Keys is a women's a cappella group founded in 1981 as the "Suburban Squares."
Students from Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges can audition to be members.
We hold most of our performances on the Bryn Mawr College campus.
We host a cappella groups from other colleges at joint concerts.
We've sung with and entertained The Bandersnatchers from Skidmore College and the Hullabahoos from UVA, and many others.
We also make the occasionally foray into the outside world.
In past years we've been to: Vermont; Pittsburgh, PA; Smith and Mount Holyoke Colleges; Boston, MA; and even a New Hampshire Unitarian church.
In earlier years, we've also visited Duke and the University of MD.
Our music has evolved from jazz and madrigal to our current preference for alternative and pop songs.
We pull from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's as well as indie music from the 21st century.
Some of the group's earliest arrangements were done by people outside the group, but current pieces are arranged by group members.
The songs performed by the Keys are chosen at the beginning of every semester.
