Charles Muldowney is the Coordinator of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion in the greater Philadelphia Area for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Charles was raised in Philadelphia. He became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on his 18th birthday. He served a full time mission to Los Angeles a year later. Upon his return from LA he was asked to teach a New Testament class to a group Bryn Mawr Students. In 2011 one of his students attending Haverford College was the son of one of his first Bryn Mawr students. He has taught students at Bryn Mawr College on and off since 1976. Brother Muldowney is married to Judith Stephenson. They have 12 children. Besides being the Coordinator of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Charles is also an artist and a writer. He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Art with a BFA in painting and The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with an MFA in painting. Brother Muldowney taught World Religions and Art at the Valley Forge Military Academy for 25 years. He also taught classes at the Delaware County Community College and The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
Charles advises the Latter-Day Saint Student Association and teaches scripture based Institute of Religion classes weekly. These classes are held in the Aelwyd Hall on Cambrian Row.
