The Department of Philosophy introduces students to some of the most compelling answers to questions of human existence and knowledge. It also grooms students for a variety of fields that require analysis, conceptual precision, argumentative skill and clarity of thought and expression. Bryn Mawr is proud to offer a philosophy program that works with the demands of a liberal arts education and the contemporary world.
The current philosophy website is structured in order to best suit the needs of current and prospective students, faculty and staff, as well as the community. This section gives general information on the department, including a welcome from the current chair as well as news and events.
Other sections of the website include information about Bryn Mawr's philosophy faculty and their office hours, what is involved in majoring and minoring at Bryn Mawr, a list of offered courses, news and social events for philosophy students (and other interested students), online resources, and much more.
Special sections include the features of a complete history of the philosophy department written by Professor Robert Dostal and notes from recent philosophy alumnae detailing what they have done with their Bryn Mawr education.
Professor Morgan Wallhagen teaches a class outside of Carpenter Library.
