Student Services
Bryn Mawr College can provide several services for residential students at no cost.
Dorm Room Phone Line If requested, the college can provide one phone line in a student dorm room at no cost. Each room may be equipped with one phone line regardless of the number of students who occupy the room. Multiple students are expected to share the line available within the room. The phone line number provided will be a DID line. DID lines are direct inward dial lines. These lines may be called directly without the need to be transferred from an operator. Anyone who wishes to reach you may call your campus room phone directly. All students are expected to provide their own phone equipment. Cordless units are prohibited in most areas as they interfere with wireless network connections and they perform poorly on campus. Students who wish to receive a dorm room phone line must visit the Telephone Services office with your student id to register for service. Telephone Services is located in the basement of Taylor Hall. We are open daily Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.
Voice Mail Voice mail is no longer offered to students here at Bryn Mawr College. All residential students will be responsible for providing personal answering machines for their usage. Courtesy Phones Courtesy phones are phones placed in shared common areas available for public use. These phones can be used to contact Public Safety, place on campus calls, or place off campus calls in conjunction with a pin number or calling card.
Emergency Phones Emergency phones are yellow call boxes mounted outside of all campus buildings. These phones generally have a red “Help” button that contacts Public Safety here on campus directly. They can also be used to place campus only calls.
Technical support When necessary, students may contact the Telephone Services Department to report a problem with a phone line, voice mail box, or any other telephone services on campus. There is no fee for technical support trouble calls. Report a Problem.
Pin Numbers Pin numbers will no longer be provided to the students here at Bryn Mawr College. Students who wish to place long distance or international calls must purchase a calling card or use a cellular phone to do so.
Local Billing/Local Payment Center Services provided by the Telephone Services Department do not incur charges. Privacy/Security Student contact information is deemed private by the college. As such, under no circumstances will the Telephone Service department personnel distribute contact information for students. In order to protect the privacy and provide security for our students, we will not reveal your contact numbers to any member outside of the community.
Phone Books Local phone books are available in the Telephone Service office at no cost to students. If you wish to receive a phone book, you can visit the office located in the basement of Taylor Hall to pick one up.
