Congratulations on your courageous decision to change career
direction and become a physician. You are now part of a
unique group of highly motivated individuals who aspire
to a career in medicine but have not fulfilled the premedical
requirements as undergraduates. We appreciate your interest
in the Bryn Mawr College Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program
and look forward to working with you in the postbac admissions
process.
Bryn Mawr’s postbac program is widely recognized
as one of the most selective and well respected in the nation.
Founded in 1972, we have more than 30 years of experience
in preparing students for success in medical school and
as future physicians in an intellectually challenging and
rewarding environment. I have had the privilege of serving
as the director of the program since 1993 and have had the
opportunity to work closely with hundreds of intelligent,
dedicated and accomplished women and men who have already
succeeded in fulfilling their career dreams. Not only have
they been wonderful medical students but many of our alumni
are leaders in the medical field.
Our graduates’ history of success in gaining admission
to medical school is remarkable. Over the past five years,
our medical school acceptance rate consistently exceeded
98 percent. I am very proud of how impressed medical school
admissions committees across the country have been with
our postbac students’ medical school applications throughout the
years.
Bryn Mawr has early acceptance arrangements with more medical
schools than any other program. And we have the longest
standing relationships with many of these consortial schools.
Most important, however, is that our postbac alumni tell
us their Bryn Mawr experience has thoroughly and effectively
prepared them for the study of medicine. This indicates
not only the exceptional quality of our academic program
and faculty but also the uniquely supportive, collegial
environment we create for our postbac students. We are committed
to helping our students make the transition to an intensive
course of study in the sciences, work together in a tightly-knit
community of diverse individuals with a shared goal, learn
from stimulating volunteer positions at medical organizations,
take advantage of strong advising and support services to
prepare for all aspects of the medical school application
process and, ultimately, succeed in realizing their true
calling as physicians.
My staff and I invite you to discover all that Bryn Mawr
has to offer by exploring our Web site. We are excited to
share our enthusiasm with you and look forward to answering
any questions you may have about our program.
Sincerely,
Jodi Domsky
