“The Bryn Mawr postbac program makes an investment in helping its students bring their goals to life. The advisers are dedicated to helping you move forward. I absolutely believe that Bryn Mawr changed my life. I’m not sure that I would be so happy with what I am doing today without having had the support of my adviser at Bryn Mawr.”

"Bryn Mawr has an excellent reputation in the sciences. I liked that the program is small. It is very challenging, and while the professors - the most dedicated teachers I have ever worked with - have very high expectations, all the support makes it manageable. I've learned a completely new language in one year. The faculty and advisers at Bryn Mawr go out of their way to make sure that their students succeed."

“The program has lived up to its reputation, providing a supportive structure that helped me complete a rigorous course load in one year. I was overwhelmed by the welcoming environment among the students and staff. Our professors have an incredible enthusiasm for the subject matter and a love of teaching — and teaching well. They have been responsive and available. In this environment, it’s easy to get excited about learning.”

"Advising at Bryn Mawr is a streamlined process. Our adviser was always thinking one step ahead for us. She helped us through the medical school application process, knew what admissions directors wanted to see in our applications, and helped us figure out the best courses to take. We knew she always had our best interests in mind."

"Everyone at Bryn Mawr was supportive and wanted you to succeed in the postbac program. My physics class was marvelous - one of the best courses I ever took. My organic chemistry professor had as much influence on me as anyone in the world. All of my professors were great. They taught me what I needed to know, and never made me feel foolish. That's a great feeling."

“The Bryn Mawr postbac program had everything I was looking for. It was academically rigorous, well structured, and provided students with a lot of care and guidance. It also had strong medical school linkages and a matriculation rate of nearly 100 percent. My classmates were really intelligent and interesting. We had a lot of fun and we all did well. It was a great year — and we all ended up having careers that fulfilled our desires.”

"The classes at Bryn Mawr are intense, and sometimes we lose sight of the connection between the classes and practicing medicine. I volunteered at a women's health clinic in Philadelphia, and it was good to have hands-on experience. Volunteering was a good reminder of why I went to school to become a doctor."

“The Bryn Mawr Chemistry Department is absolutely phenomenal. Organic
Chemistry was my favorite subject — and that’s the course people always say is so hard! Our professors go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you understand the material, and they are accessible to students. It is a very nurturing environment for a motivated student.”

“I chose Bryn Mawr because it is a liberal arts college with a strong academic reputation. I knew I would be successful in a setting with small classes, great access to professors, and an intellectually curious student body. The advising staff and faculty at Bryn Mawr have a confidence and investment in the postbac students that I didn’t see in other programs I considered.”

"The postbac program emphasized community service from the very first day. This commitment wasn't only in words — Bryn Mawr even reimbursed part of our travel costs to and from the service site. I volunteered once a week at the Catholic Worker Free Clinic. It was inspiring to participate in the health care of underserved populations in a place that treated everyone with respect and compassion."

“I looked all over the country and it became clear that Bryn Mawr had one of the best programs. I knew that I needed a reputable program because I didn’t want a medical school admissions committee to have any doubts about the quality of my basic science education. Bryn Mawr also has one of the most robust consortial programs. The opportunity to go to medical school a year earlier and to have a leg up on the general application process was extremely attractive.”

“Bryn Mawr has a lot of great medical school linkage opportunities, and that was important to me. I’m a little older than the average medical student, and I’d already had a lot of other experiences, so I didn’t think the glide year would be productive. The consortial option enabled me to go right into a great medical school, and I am very happy about my decision.”

"Bryn Mawr is a nurturing environment. As someone who had actively avoided math and the sciences in the past, I found it to be a safe place to embrace those subjects. The College's Honor Code allowed me to focus on my strengths and weaknesses, and not on how I did relative to other students. To learn for the sake of learning and not just for grades is a great lesson for anyone - especially someone who is feeling a little out of her or his element."
