Dear students:

After more than a year of consultation and exploration the College has decided to consolidate our graduate and undergraduate student administrative services under a new organization serving all of Bryn Mawr’s students.

These changes deal mostly with the “behind the scenes” way that Bryn Mawr operates and should not have an immediate visible impact from the student perspective. However, within the next year the goal is to create a student services structure that enables the College to be even more responsive to your needs; make better use of technology in providing student services; and eventually become a model for others to emulate.

Offices involved in this reorganization include undergraduate and graduate admissions, the bursar, the registrar, student employment, career development and financial aid. In creating this new administrative student services structure the College will consolidate what were eight offices crossing five different divisions of the College into five offices that will report directly to a single person responsible for enrollment and communication.  These new responsibilities will be added to the duties of Jenny Rickard, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid.

Our goal is to provide students a seamless administrative experience from the moment they consider a Bryn Mawr education until the time they begin the next chapter in their lives.

Students will join faculty, staff, and administrators in creating the vision, mission and goals for this new organization. We are already grateful for the input that many of you provided to us during our 2008-2009 review of the current student services configurations by either participating in a focus group or responding to our online survey. That input will continue to be an important resource as the new organization moves forward. There will be regularly occurring updates to the campus community throughout the process and anyone with questions is welcome to contact Jenny Rickard.
