  • Liz McCormack, Professor of Physics, was awarded the McPherson Fellowship for excellence in teaching, research, and service to the community;
  • Mary Ellen Nerz-Stormes, Lecturer in Biology, was awarded the Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching; and
  • David Cast, Professor of History of Art, was given the Roslyn R. Schwartz Teaching Award.

  • Recent Research Grants and Awards

    Associate Professor of Physics Michael Noel has received funding from the National Science Foundation in support of his project “Engineered Samples of Ultracold Atoms” in the amount of $140,000.
    Associate Professor of Classics Radcliffe Edmonds has received a grant in the amount of $26,000 from the Center for Hellenic Studies for his sabbatical yeara project on Greek myths.
    Professor of Psychology Clark McCauley received an REU grant from the National Science Foundation for his project entitled “Developing Polls to Test Theories of Radicalization and Potential for Radicalization” in the amount of $5,700.*
    Professor of Physics Elizabeth McCormack has received funding from Research Corporation in the amount of $2,500 to be used at her discretion for her research.
    Assistant Professor of Italian Roberta Ricci was awarded a 2007 Summer Stipend of $6,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
    Professor of Political Science Stephen Salkever has been awarded a fellowship from the National Humanities Center in the amount of $40,000 in support of his sabbatical research.
    Professor of Anthropology Philip Kilbride has received a Fulbright Scholar award for research in the Czech Republic, to be undertaken during his sabbatical. The amount of the award will be determined at a later date.

    Postdoctoral Fellows

    • Stephanie Schwartz, M.Phil., Columbia, 2000, as The Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in the History and Theory of Photography. She will be affiliated with the History of Art Department and the Film Studies Program.
