Registration Using Virtual Bryn Mawr

Students use Virtual Bryn Mawr to pre-register and to register for classes. Undergraduate pre-registration for Spring 2010 will open for Monday, November 2, 2009 and continue until Friday, November 13.  Follow the simple steps below to complete the registration process.

LOGGING ON : To log in use the Virtual Bryn Mawr link to the left or type in the URL: http://virtual.brynmawr.edu, this will bring up the login page, type in your user ID* and your Bryn Mawr password. 

Follow the Self-Service menu link to the Student Center.

ENROLLING IN CLASSES: From the Student Center under Academics click on Add a Class to register for classes.

  • Select the term that you are registering for from the list and click the "Change Term" button.
  • If you know the Class Nbr (4 digit code) enter it, otherwise choose the search option (see below).  Information about the course will display, if it is the course you want, click NEXT. Continue to add courses until you are done.
  • Use the Proceed To Step 3 button at the bottom of the page to move to the next step, review your choices and
  • Click the Finish Enrolling button, your courses will be displayed. All courses with a green check have been added to your schedule.  A red X means an error has occurred, the error will be described in the Message box.

    Search for a Class: When you do not know the 4-digit Class Number, use the Search for Classes option. Clicking the search button will take you to a search screen.
  • Type the first letter of the department in the Course subject box, or use the scroll bar to move through the list. (The list is very long!  Use the Catalog as a reference if you are unsure of the official name of a Bryn Mawr or Haverford department.)
  • For the course number the search option select “Contains”, in the small box to the right enter any or all of the catalog number (ie B101 or H235A).
  • Leave the course career as undergraduate for both Bryn Mawr and Haverford courses, unless you have permission to enroll in a graduate course.

  • Use the SEARCH button to bring back your results.  The course titles and catalog numbers are listed in the bar above the course detail.
  • Use the Select Class button to select the course and section you want.

ENROLLING AT QUAKER CONSORTIUM SCHOOLS: To register for a Swarthmore College or University of Pennsylvania course, enter the Spring 2010 course codes listed below.  Obtain a Swarthmore registration form from the Dean’s Office.  Print a University of Pennsylvania form  from the website.  Be sure to get your Dean's approval and to follow the procedures and deadlines required by the partner institution.

***Students in the Class of 2010 must make arrangements with their instructors to have the grades sent to our office by noon on Monday, May 10, 2010.  Failing to do so will jeopardize graduation. ***

CHANGING CLASSES: Once you have added your initial courses your schedule will display. At the bottom of the page there are links to Add Classes, Drop, and Swap Classes.

Adding a class: Click on the Add link, you can either enter the class number or search for the course as above.  (You may enroll in up to 4.5 units during preregistration.)


Swapping a class:  If you want to both drop a class and add a class, you can use Swap Class

  • Click on the Swap link. Choose the course you want to drop from the dropped down in the Swap this class section.
  • In the With this Class section enter the class number of the course you want to add (or search).
  • Verify your choices and click the Finish Swapping.

Dropping a Class: Click on the Drop link.  All of the courses you are registered for will display in a grid.

  • Next to the course you want to drop, select DROP from the action drop box.
  • When you are finished, click the Drop Selected Classes button, review your selection on the next page.
  • Click the Finish Dropping button.

After each action it is a good idea to click on the View My Schedule link and review the changes you have made.

USING MY CLASS SCHEDULE:  click on My Class Schedule to see the courses you are registered for, along with additional course information.  You may change the view from a list to a weekly calendar by clicking the appropriate button.

Within the weekly grid you can customize the display by changing the start and end times, and by turning on or off the check boxes at the bottom of the page. If needed, enter a date during the semester and click REFRESH CALENDAR to generate the schedule.

LOGGING OUT: Always click on the Sign out link at the upper right hand corner of the screen.  It’s a good idea to clear your user ID from the log in screen to protect your privacy.
