Registering for a Swarthmore Class: 3 EASY STEPS

TriCo Linguistics Department Courses:

Since the Linguistics department at Swarthmore is part of the TriCo Linguistics department, students may register for the course directly in BiONIC.  Your registration will be sent directly to Swarthmore.  If your registration is not accepted due to overenrollment (or any other factor) you will be notified of the results.  No registration forms are needed.  If you don't see a Linguistics course in Bionic that is being offered, please the Bryn Mawr Registrar's Office know.

All Non-Linguistics Courses

Step 1: Register for SWAT 999

Declare your intention to enroll in a Swarthmore class by enrolling in the SWAT 999 placeholder course. Once your registration is approved by Swarthmore, this course will be replaced by the actual course you are taking.  Students who do not register for SWAT 999 may experience a delay in finalizing registration.

Register for Class Number 2442 for your first course.

Register for Class Number 2443 if you plan to enroll in a second course.

Register for Class Number 2444 if you have received permission to register for a third course.

Step 2: Print a Form & Get Signatures

Print out a Enrollment for Non-Swarthmore Students Form, fill it out and get it signed by the instuctor.

Step 3: Drop it Off

Bring the completed form to the Swarthmore Registrar's Office for their signature and then bring a copy to the Bryn Mawr Registrar's Office.  Registration is not complete until both Registrar Office's receive the signed form.

Review the Academic Calendar:

Swarthmore's Academic Calendar is not the same as Bryn Mawr.  Please make sure you review when Swarthmore classes start and end (often this is the day before Bryn Mawr starts classes) and if they are changing their meeting schedule during the semester to make up missed days.

       Fall Semester: Last 2 Days

TriCo Transportation:

The three colleges support the Tri-Co Van shuttle service. This is the only transportation Bryn Mawr makes available to you to attend classes at Swarthmore.  The schedule is posted online. If you miss the last shuttle or if shuttle service stops due to inclement weather or emergency, you are advised to seek safe emergency housing through the public safety office of the campus on which you find yourself, then contact your professors as needed to let them know why you are not coming and arrange to make up the work, and await the next shuttle as it becomes available.
