Russian Language Flagship Lecturer at Bryn Mawr College
Natalia Hayes received her B.A. in Language Pedagogy from Moscow Linguistics University in Moscow, Russia. She also received an M.A. in Central and Eastern European Studies from La Salle University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Russian and Second Language Acquisition from Bryn Mawr College.
Natasha’s areas of instruction include all levels of Russian language, Business Russian, and Russian Culture. She has taught Russian to English base-language and Italian base-language adult learners, and has worked as a translator / interpreter in these three languages in Moscow. She has taught Russian language courses at both the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University. In addition, she has taught Russian culture classes at La Salle University. Natasha’s research interests are in the areas of cross-linguistic influence and language transfer, as well as in the development of Russian language proficiency at the upper levels. She is currently working as a Russian Language Flagship lecturer at Bryn Mawr College and is developing curricular materials for upper level Russian Language Flagship classes.
Natasha is an avid traveler and enjoys being immersed in different cultures. She loves anything outdoorsy: hiking, playing tennis, horse riding, sailing, jogging (the best jog is always in the old, less-traveled streets of her native Moscow).
