Tom King

Director of Campus Safety – Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges


Tom has been at Haverford College for twelve years, and began working with Bryn Mawr three years ago.  He was a Detective and Detective Supervisor with the Philadelphia Police Department for twenty years, and was with the University of Pennsylvania Police Department’s Detective Commander & Deputy Chief for four years. He has a M.Ed. and teaches a Graduate-level course called Education Law at Holy Family's University.  Tom is an avid cyclist, and rides and races whenever he gets time. He is "enamored" with the Social Honor Code, and enjoys seeing students progress, learn, and grow as they approach life after college.

 Lil Burroughs

Director of Operations, Campus Safety for Bryn Mawr & Haverford Colleges.

Lil has worked in Campus Safety for over twenty years at such places including Cabrini College, Philadelphia University and the Philadelphia Police Department. Lil has her Masters Degree from St. Joseph's University in Public Safety Management. Lil is thrilled to be a member of this fine Campus Safety team.

 

Nora Nelle

Investigations Director

Nora was a supervisor (the first female Sergeant!) at the University of Pennsylvania Police Department.  Nora has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has attended numerous seminars and courses in rape and sexual assault related issues and has expertise in that area.  She is a licensed private investigator, and formed her own investigative agency. She has a special interest in diversity issues, having attended Winter Tri-Co several times. Nora likes to read, dance, and exercise, and likes working here because of the “wonderful and interesting” people.

 

John Kelley

Lieutenant

John has been with Bryn Mawr College for two years – recruited from Villanova.  He spent seven years as municipal police officer, thirteen years in college public safety, and ten years with a Fortune 500 company as a security manager.  He has a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Human Resource Management.  He is married with four children and enjoys cross-country motorcycle riding. 

 

Mike Ramsey

Training Coordinator

Mike has been at Bryn Mawr College for ten years and was formerly with the United States Marine Corps and the Montgomery County Corrections Department. He is the department's Training Officer and is a RAD instructor. Mike is the Card Access Administrator.  Mike likes to spend time with his family and loves to travel.

Ed has been with Bryn Mawr College for two years after being recruited from Haverford College’s Department of Security and Safety.  He spent twenty years with the Philadelphia Police Departments as an officer and investigator, and as a Special Agent with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Ed has a B.S in Finance from West Chester University.  He is married with three children and likes baseball and golf.

 

Timothy Wimbush

Tim is working part time for Campus Safety. Tim has twenty years experience in management of corporate and government security. He has attended Eastern College and Delaware County Community College, as well as the US Navy Security Training Academy. In addition to numerous training certifications, he is also a RAD instructor. Tim enjoys doing charity work especially for hospitalized and underprivileged children.

Art has been with Bryn Mawr College since April, 2011. Art has twenty-eight years experience as an officer and supervisor in the Lower Merion Police Department. Art's duties included staff and inspections and quality control for the department. He has a B.A. in Criminal Justice from LaSalle University. He is married with two daughters.

Cheryl has been with Bryn Mawr Public Safety for four years.  She previously worked security at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, GA.  She likes dancing and reading. Cheryl loves working at Bryn Mawr because it feels like an extended family.

 

Lisa Jenkins

Campus Safety Officer

Lisa has been in the Public Safety Department for eighteen years and previously worked in Dining Services as well as the College Post Office. Lisa received her certification in the Association of Public Safety Communication Officers (APCO)at the Philadelphia University. She enjoys reading, shopping, cooking, dancing and watching movies.  Lisa enjoys working at Bryn Mawr because of “the people and the community.”

 

Jennifer Turner

 Campus Safety Officer

Jen has been with Bryn Mawr for seven years. Jen attended the  Burlington Police Academy, New Jersey Department of Corrections Academy, and the Campus Public Safety Institute Academy. She is a certified member of the International Police Mountain Bike Association. Jen is a certified pet groomer and proficient in American Sign Language. Jen says she “likes interacting with students and the community.”

Anthony (Tony) is a Viet Nam Veteran having served in the US Army as a Sergeant. Tony has 36 years experience as a Philadelphia Housing Police Officer and has been at Bryn Mawr for five years.  He enjoys high performance cars and socializing in his leisure time.  Tony likes working at Bryn Mawr “because of his co-workers at the college.”

Anthony has been at Bryn Mawr for twelve years, having previously worked for two years in the Security Department at The Baldwin School. He also spent twelve years with The Sleighton School as Director of Counseling and in the Security Department.  Anthony is a basketball coach in his spare time and enjoys Bryn Mawr’s beautiful campus.

Campus Safety Office Manager
Lisa has been at Bryn Mawr for twenty-eight years having previously worked at St. Edmond’s Home for Children in the HR department, and as a medical secretary for an Ophthalmology/Surgery practice. She attended Mt. Aloysius College and enjoys reading and traveling.  Lisa says “the small community here allows you to get to know students during their four years at Bryn Mawr “.

Tim has been with Bryn Mawr College since June, 2012. He previously worked for PNC Bank for thirty-seven years. He is a Viet Nam Veteran. Tim has four children and two grandchildren.

Dan has been with Bryn Mawr College since August 2011. Dan was a police officer and criminal investigator for twenty-three years, and the director of an ambulance company. He is a Marine Corps Veteran. Dan is married with two sons, and enjoys spending time at local beaches with his family. Dan is a volunteer fireman and an assistant scoutmaster.

Barry is a former Lower Merion Police Officer.  He is a graduate of Villanova University. Prior to working for the Public Safety Departments at Bryn Mawr and Haverford College, Barry owned a painting business for twenty years. He is an avid football and baseball fan.

Cheryl graduated from Palm Beach Junior College and worked as a corrections officer in Florida.  She has been at Bryn Mawr for nineteen years.  Cheryl enjoys cooking and traveling and Bryn Mawr’s beautiful  campus.

Barry has been with Bryn Mawr College since March, 2011. Previously he worked as a supervisor for a sporting goods company and as a security guard at a pharmaceutical company.  Barry recently completed a mountain bike training course given by the Lower Merion Police Department and when possible does bike patrol on campus.  He also enjoys riding his bike in his spare time.
