Application Requirements
MSS Candidates

To be eligible for the MSS degree program, you must posess:

• A Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited College or University.
  (Note: Undergraduates completing their senior year of College, may also apply. Accepted students must furnish a transcript before the start of classes.)

Early Application Option
Applicants who submit their completed application packet by December 1 will be notified of their admissions status through the initial review on or before March 1. Early applicants often have better access to financial aid, field placements, and course registration. For a small number of early applicants, additional information may be required and requested. For these applicants, a final decision may not be available until sometime after March 1.

For the Regular Application Plan, all application materials are due by April 15.

Checklist:

• Interview - Interviews are strongly encouraged, but are not required. Students may schedule an interview by calling the Office of Admissions at 610-526-5152 or plan to visit the school by completing this form..
• Application
• Essays: Part II including Personal Statement 1 (a two-part question), and Personal Statement 2.
  NOTE: All applicants must complete part A of Personal Statement 2.
• 3 Recommendations -Three letters of recommendation are required. If you have been out of school for 5 years or less, two must be academic references.
• Transcripts  - An official transcript from all colleges and universities attended.

All application materials are due by February 1, including first-semester grades.

To be eligible for  the Advanced Standing Program, you must possess:

• a BSW from a CSWE-accredited program within five years of application;
• a minimum overall G.P.A. of 3.0.

To apply to the Advanced Standing Program, you must comply with all of the application requirements, including:

• All required essays
• Official Transcripts  - An official transcript from all colleges and universities attended
• Application
• Three (3) Letters of Recommendation from the following:
  • B.S.W. Program Director
  • A field instructor
  • A faculty member

Application Requirements
Doctoral Program

To be eligible for the Doctoral Program, you must possess:

• A Master's degree in social work from an accredited university or a Master's degree in a related field
• An undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or higher
• A graduate grade point average of 3.5 or higher
• Two years of post-MSW work experience is recommended but not required.

Doctoral Candidate Checklist

• Interview - Applicants for the Ph.D. program must speak with the Director of the Doctoral Program, or a faculty member, prior to submitting the application for admission.  Please contact the admissions office at 610- 526-5152 for available times and dates.
• Application with personal statement - A personal statement describing an applicant’s reasons for  choosing to pursue doctoral education in social work and social welfare. Applicants are required as well to analyze a social problem, identifying factors that must be considered in developing a policy or  program to address the problem, and the social work practice issues implied by the analysis.
• 3 Recommendations - Letters of recommendation are required from three individuals capable of  assessing the applicant’s ability to successfully engage in doctoral study.  Two of these should be academic references.
• GRE test results - GRE scores of at least 500 on the verbal and quantitative reasoning parts of the test  (600 is desirable); a score of at least 5.0 on the analytic writing test.
• Transcripts  - An official transcript from all colleges and universities attended.
