Individual Advising

Consult with a career counselor conveniently in our classroom building. Discuss your personal career issues, job search strategies and networking style. Have your resume or c.v. critiqued. All meetings are confidential.

Lunch-hour and evening Workshops

Planned conveniently during students' class breaks, career workshops address issues like licensure, resume and cover letter writing, networking and interviewing. Take a look, below, at the workshops planned for this semester.

Annual Day of Career Focus

Each year before classes resume in January, current social work students are invited to attend an all-day career exploration seminar. The day includes a wide range of experiences from personal assessment to mock interviews with peer feedback. An alumnae/i panel discussion includes graduates from a variety of disciplines who speak with current students about their own career paths and workplaces; the alums also offer advice to job seekers and answer a myriad of questions.

Networking Contacts

Many alumnae/i from the Graduate School of Social Work and from Bryn Mawr College are willing to talk with students and other alumnae/i about what they do. Our alumnae/i are among our most valued resources. If you are evaluating career opportunities, seeking information about employers or wish to learn more about a professional role, the advice of experienced alumnae/i can be invaluable.

Letters of Reference Service

The Bryn Mawr/Haverford Bi-college Office of Career Development (CDO) offers a "credentials" service whereby you may store your letters of reference. Upon request, the CDO forwards letters on your behalf to potential employers or to graduate schools. Learn more about the service and download forms at: www.haverford.edu/cdo/services/credentials/

Job Listings

Each year, the Graduate School of Social Work learns of jobs from many employers via multiple sources. Social Work and related human service job listings are shared with current students and alumnae/i via email distribution lists and in-house job postings.   Email Genny Dunne to join the "Social Work Careers" list-serve which is exclusively designed for our social work students and alumnae/i.

Network News

This listing (http://cdoapps.haverford.edu/resources/netnews/), generated by the College's CDO, offers a general, wide-spectrum of job listings and internships available to all Bryn Mawr alumnae/i. Human Services jobs are among those represented in Network News.

Jobs Fair

Located on site at the School of Social Work , the annual Jobs Fair hosts 30 (plus) employers who come to campus specifically to meet with social work students.

Continuing Education

In keeping with the School's commitment to continuous learning throughout each social worker's career, the School offers a continuing education series running from October to February. These seminars for post-graduate professionals present a spectrum of social work issues sensitive to the needs and suggestions of alumnae/i. See current schedule of Continuing Education classes.
