To be eligible for the Advanced Standing Program, you must possess:
The Advanced Standing MSS program begins in early June and must be undertaken on a full-time basis allowing for graduation the following May or September.
Advanced Standing students may receive transfer credit for up to seven foundation courses plus one unit of field instruction. The foundation courses for which transfer credit may be granted include 501-Foundation Practice, 503-Research Informed Practice I, 504-Research Informed Practice II, 505-Theoretical Perspectives in Social Work I, 507-Theoretical Perspectives in Social Work II, 517-Social Policy Foundations and Analysis, and 540-Multiculturalism & Diversity: Advanced Perspectives. In order to receive transfer credit for courses, a student must have received a grade of “B” or better in each course for which credit is being sought. In addition, an official transcript from the institution at which the courses were taken must be submitted along with syllabi and any other related materials.
During the summer semester, classes meet once a week over a 10 week period, generally on Wednesday mornings. In the fall and spring semesters, classes meet once a week over a 14 week period. Students should keep in mind that some courses require time in the computer lab.
Financial aid is available through a combination of Bryn Mawr College grants and subsidized and unsubsidized loans.
