Somatic Experiencing is a mind-body approach to healing trauma as well as
other emotional issues. Techniques are presented both conceptually and
experientially, with brief, simple demonstration exercises with the group. The
importance of mind-body awareness is a central theme. Clinicians will learn
ways to track neurophysiological reactions and to facilitate the body’s natural
self-regulating and self-healing properties. Participants gain treatment
techniques that can be easily applied in the course of ordinary psychotherapy.
This workshop is appropriate for all levels of post-master’s degreed
practitioners who work in trauma treatment settings or who are in general
clinical practice.
Stu Cohen, PhD, is a clinical psychologist in private practice who has been
exploring mind-body approaches for many years. He became a certified
Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in 2003, and organized the first Somatic
Experiencing training in the Philadelphia area.
