María Cristina Quintero has been teaching at Bryn Mawr since 1993. She is the author of Poetry As Play: Gongorismo and the Comedia and the editor of Luis de Góngora, a special issue of Calíope: Journal of the Society for Renaissance and Baroque Hispanic Poetry. She has published numerous reviews and articles on Renaissance theories of translation, gender and lyric poetry, and the politics of the comedia in Hapsburg Spain. Her articles have appeared in MLN, Hispanic Review, Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, Bulletin of Hispanic Studies, Bulletin of the Comediantes, and Cervantes; and in recent anthologies on early modern studies, including Writing for the Eye: Literature and the Visual Arts in Early Modern Spain and Crossing the Channel: Symbolic and Material Circulations Between Spain and England. She teaches courses on Cervantes, the picaresque, the development of the lyric in Renaissance Spain and Italy, Spanish drama, introduction to Comparative Literature, and the representation of women in Spanish literature.
