Application ~ LILAC Summer Internship Funding*

*This funding was formerly known as the Dean's Office Summer Funding.

Over the course of the Spring semester 2014, oversight of the College's summer internship funding program will transition from the Undergraduate Dean's Office to the Leadership, Innovation, and Liberal Arts Center (LILAC). Student inquiries about internship funding should be sent to internshipfunding@brynmawwr.edu. Thank you for your support during this transition and as we further build the educational components of student internship experiences!

For Students:  For questions regarding how to secure a summer internship and how to identify an appropriate source of College funding, please email internshipfunding@brynmawr.edu or schedule an appointment with a career counselor online through Lantern Link.

For Faculty and Staff:  For questions regarding how to submit a letter of recommendation or how to process summer internship funding payments, please contact Isabelle Barker (ibarker@brynmawr.edu).

Deadline: Friday, February 28, 2014, 11:59 pm

** Summer Funding decisions will be finalized in mid-April 2014 **

Your application for summer funding must include the following:

(1)   LILAC Summer Internship Funding On-Line Application

This application is composed of the following sections:

  • Contact Information - name, id#, address, etc.
  • Background Information - major, GPA, etc.
  • Recommendation - name and email of one TriCo faculty or staff member serving as a recommender
  • Limited Eligibility Funding Sources – a checklist of additional funding sources for which you would like to be considered
  • Funding Application List – a checklist of all the BMC summer funding sources to which you will apply this year
  • Internship Description – information about the internship(s) you would like to secure (org name, org location, start/end dates, approximate # of hours per week, etc.)
  • Application  Materials (to be uploaded):
    • A 1-2 page resume
    • An internship proposal (up to 500 words for one internship, up to 1000 words for multiple internships).  Please describe in detail: a) the organization(s) where you plan to apply to intern; b) steps you have taken or will take to apply for the internship(s); c) your responsibilities and projects as an intern; and, d) the supervision you will be provided.
    • A personal statement (up to 700 words). Discuss in detail: a) your preparation for the proposed internship; b) what you hope to learn from the experience; and, c) how the proposed experience will enhance to your studies, your future career goals, and/or your interests.
  • Payment Preferences – request for either 5 bi-weekly payments or one lump sum payment

Please familarize yourself with the application before you begin to complete it.  The application must be completed in one sitting. You may not save your entries and return.

(2)   Recommendation from ONE member of the TriCo faculty or staff

(Only ONE recommendation is required for LILAC Summer Internship Funding.)

  • Send the above link to your recommender at least 3 WEEKS before the application deadline. You must also provide your recommender information about your application (draft of your internship proposal, personal statement and/or resume).
  • If you have already submitted an application for support through ARS or the Hepburn Center for the SAME internship proposal(s), you may request that we use the same recommendations from those applications. In this case, add a note to this effect at the bottom of your personal statement.

 

(3)    (NOT required)  Sponsor Confirmation Form in cases where the internship is already secured at time of application. In cases where Sponsor does not have access to the internet, please contact internshipfunding@brynmawr.edu to make alternate arrangements.
