General Information

Bryn Mawr offers summer courses in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Calculus. These courses are divided into two five-week sessions. Although many of the students in these courses are drawn from the Bryn Mawr Postbaccalaureate Premedical program, there are also Bryn Mawr undergraduates and other students in some of the courses.

Session I deadline: April 16, 2008

Note:  Although the registration deadline has passed for Summer Session 1, we will still be accepted registration forms for the following courses: Organic Chemistry (Chem 211), Biochemistry (Bio 354), and Calculus 1 (Math 101 section 1).

 

Session II deadline: June 10, 2008

Note:

Current postbacs do not have to complete this form. Please register through VE, and print and submit your registration.

Incoming postbac- please go to the enrolled postbac website for more information.

Confirmation of Registration

An email confirming your summer school registration will be sent to the email address given on your registration form by the end of April 2008. Please have a back up plan in case the course is full or the course is cancelled due to lack of enrollment.

Billing

 

Bills will be mailed to the address provided on your summer school registration form approximately 2-3 weeks before classes begin each session.  If you are enrolled for both summer sessions, you will be billed separately for each session.  Tuition is due by the end of the first day of classes for each semester.  Tuition and fees can be paid in person or mailed to the Comptroller’s Office in Cartref.  Checks, cash or money orders are accepted; credit cards are not accepted.

Withdrawing from a Class

To withdraw from a class before classes begin, please compllete and email the Withdrawal Form to Marian Brill at mbrill@brynmawr.edu   She will email you to acknowledge that it was received.

To withdraw from a class after classes have begun, you will need to:

1.  Email Marian Brill mbrill@brynmawr.edu as soon as you decide to withdraw (the date of the email may be used to determine any refund received)

AND

2.  Fill out a Course Withdrawal Form in the Health Professions Advising Office in Canwyll House East within 24 hours of the requested withdrawal.

Tuition Refunds

The college’s refund policy for withdrawing from classes in the summer semester is

                            100% refund                   Written withdrawal before or   on the first day of classes

                            50%                                   Day 2 to 14

                            0%                                     Day 15 forward

NOTE:  The college has a fair and equitable refund policy based on federal regulations.  Under the policy the refund will be a percentage of tuition, fees, room, and board, based on the period of attendance and the receipt of Title IV funds.  The actual calculation of the refund will be made in the Comptroller’s Office based on the actual date of withdrawal.  For specific dates and amount of refund and/or a copy of the policy, please see the Comptroller’s Office.

Housing

 An on-campus residence hall is available for a limited number of summer school students.  A full session commitment is required for the on-campus housing.  Room and board is the only available option and is billed on a full session basis.  No refunds will be made after the session begins.  Campus housing is available to summer school students, except those of high school age. If you wish to live in on-campus housing during summer school, please check the appropriate box on the registration form by April 16, 2008. (Housing requests received after April 16 are not guaranteed and will be accommodated when space becomes available). You will be billed for room and board at the same time you are billed for tuition and fees.  A few weeks before classes begin, you will receive a letter with information on where you will be housed, when you can check in, and where to pick up a key and meal card.

A $100 cancellation fee will be assessed for withdrawal from summer housing between April 25 and May 5.  Additional fees may be assessed for withdrawal between May 5 and May 26, 2008.  Please email Marian Brill (mbrill@brynmawr.edu) if your plans change and you no longer require on-campus housing.

 

Other Information

Courses with less than five students registered by April 16 for Session I and June 10 for Session II are subject to cancellation.

Laboratories will be held on the first day of class.

It is not necessary to purchase books prior to the first class.    

Library services are available at the Canaday Library, the Carpenter Library and the Collier Science Library.

Parking is available on campus in designated lots.

Available athletic facilities include the Schwartz Gymnasium with a fitness center, weight room, indoor pool, and outdoor tennis courts.
