
Susan Chaplick’s Early intervention programs, housed adjacent to West House in the Child Study Institute, are now under the administrative auspices of the Thorne School.
Preschool Early Intervention Classes
Early Intervention classes with a high adult-to-child ratio are available for preschoolers with language delays, attention problems, social skills deficits, difficulties with behavioral self-regulation, and autism spectrum features. Classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Tuesday/Thursday Group
On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., 3 - 5 year olds who could benefit from expansion of their play and language skills attend a small, specialized language-focused group with a high teacher-student ratio.
Pre-Kindergarten Early Intervention Class
Susan Chaplicks’ pre-kindergarten program meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. This class is designed for children with delays in several areas of development who need additional support in learning how to learn.
These Early Intervention programs are staffed by Susan Chaplick, M.S./CCC, an assistant teacher, and undergraduate assistants. Student-teacher ratio is approximately 2:1.
