Susan Chaplick’s Early Intervention Programs, housed adjacent to West House in the Child Study Institute, are now under the administrative auspices of the Thorne School. Clases with a high adult-to-child ratio are available for preschoolers, ages 3 through 5, for whom language delays, attention problems, social skills deficits, and difficulties with behavioral self-regulation preclude functioning in a traditional preschool setting.
Classes meet two or three times weekly for two hours, with the three day afternoon class lasting an additional 15 minutes. Class sizes are limited to six children per class, and are taught by Susan Chaplick, M.S./CCC, a speech language pathologist, and two assistant teachers. Both three day classes also have group occupational therapy once a week, led by a certified occupational therapist.
