BRYN MAWR COLLEGE TRAVEL INSURANCE

The College has purchased a travel insurance policy provided by American International Assistance Services, Inc. for faculty and staff traveling abroad. This policy provides the coverage described below. It is available for faculty or staff members traveling during the summer or during the academic year. Please complete the enrollment form (Word document) and return it to the Treasurer's Office if you do plan to travel abroad for at least one month and would like to have this insurance coverage.

The Treasurer's Office will send a brochure with a wallet-size insurance card which lists the telephone number to be called if assistance is needed to all faculty or staff members who enroll in the plan.

1. World-wide, 24-hour telephone number to call for physician or hospital referrals: 0l-713-267-2525 (call collect).
2. Coverage for the cost of travel to a treatment facility in the event of a medical emergency. Emergency medical travel arrangements are made by the insurance company.

Other coverage includes

1. Lost passport or baggage assistance
2. Legal assistance
3. Emergency cash.

Medical insurance coverage for costs incurred during a stay abroad that provides coverage for 80% of any medical costs with a $10,000 maximum and a $100 deductible. This plan can be used in conjunction with a regular insurance policy (Blue Cross/Blue Shield or Keystone) to cover all or most of the costs of medical care.

Cost and Enrollement Procedure

The policy will cover any trip abroad that is at least one month long. The College will pay for the travel insurance for any faculty or staff member who is on a College sabbatical, professional development leave or extended research trip. Faculty and staff members traveling abroad for at least one month for personal reasons can also be added to the policy at their own cost. Spouses and children traveling with a faculty or staff member can also be covered at their own cost. The cost is $38.00 per month per person. The monthly charge is for the number of months of the trip. If you are interested in having this coverage please complete the enrollment form (Word document).
