Contemporary Hong Kong Art, Politics, and Identity
During the summer, I spent 2 weeks in Hong Kong studying contemporary art through gallery visits and interviews. The location for Hong Kong was chosen for its interesting situation as a post-handover British colony back to Chinese-rule, as well as its image as a place where East meets West. I had the privilege of meeting and interviewing various individuals such as Hong Kong artists, published writers on Hong Kong art, a university art student, and university art professors. My studies done in Hong Kong will be used for my senior anthropology thesis on Hong Kong contemporary art and politics.
