Performance opportunities offered through the Dance Program can earn academic or Physical Education credit and are taught or directed by professional instructors and artists.
In addition to works created by Bryn Mawr dance faculty Linda Caruso Haviland and Madeline Cantor, guest artist choreographers in the last several years have included Philadelphia or NYC-based choreographers: Vicky Shick, Melanie Cotton, Olive Prince, Meredith Rainey, Shannon Murphy, Nia Eubanks-Dixon, Kyle and Dinita Clark, Colby Damon, Meg Foley, Nora Gibson, Megan Mazarick, Myra Bazell, Heidi Cruz-Austin, Clyde Evans jr., Gabrielle Revlock, Michelle Stortz, Crystal Frazier, Nichole Canuso, Jeannine Osayande, Amanda Miller, and Israeli-based artist, Idan Porges.
Student dancers have also performed in official reconstructions of José Limón's Concerto Grosso, Waldstein Sonata, and Psalm as well as Martha Graham's Steps in the Street and excerpts from Trisha Brown's Lineup and Solo Olos, and in both the Parsons Etude and the Buraczeski Etude through the Repertory Etudes Collection.
Dance Outreach Project
Tabitha is a student group that provides choreographic and performance experience for serious-minded dancers. Working with a Dance Program faculty mentor, a student director choreographs an evening length performance using Bryn Mawr and Haverford students in their performance projects. Tabitha concerts may be performed in studio, in the Goodhart Hepburn Teaching Theatre, or in the Spring Dance Concert.
Extra-curricular Groups In addition to Dance Program's credit-earning courses taught by professional instructors and artists, there are danced-based, extra-curricular student groups that are active on campus. For more information, go to the SGA activities page and check under the 'Music and Performing Arts' or the 'Special Interests' headings for information on groups that are currently active.
