The Summer Dance Study Grant was founded by alumna, Edith Aviles de Kostes, and continues to offer intensive study opportunities to serious dancers with support from a generous friend of the Program. It is designed to provide full or partial stipends to a student or students enrolled in recognized summer dance technique/training programs. Since the inception of the program in 2005, we have been able to assist two to three students each year in pursuing summer study. Students apply for this grant in early spring.
Our students have studied at Alonzo King/Lines Summer Program, Alvin Ailey Summer Intensive, American Dance Festival, American Ballet Theater, Axis Dance Company's Integrated Abilities Program, BalletX summer intensive, Bill T. Jones Summer Workshop, David Parsons Summer Dance, The Hip Hop Conservatory of NYC, Jacob's Pillow, the Paul Taylor Summer Intensive, Pro Danza Italia, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, Urban Bush Women Summer Institute, and in approved regional studio programs.
