Recognizing that people of all ages learn and communicate via a broad range of media, we encourage students to create work in many formats: in writing, of course, and also through visual, performance, and online contexts. We believe educators are most effective when they can access their own creativity and encourage others’ expressive capacities to explore, question, and represent ideas and experiences.
Seniors create a culminating portfolio that draws from their experiences in education courses, the field, and their lives. Recent examples:
Graduates go on to a variety of careers. They hold positions as teachers as well as in education policy and research, school leadership and administration, academia, and educational technology as well as in allied fields such as social work and counseling. Several recent graduates of the Class of 2018 shared the following about their next steps in the field of education:
"I will be a Bilingual Counselor Assistant and a Resident Tutor at ABC Lower Merion"
"I started working at Education Law Center at the beginning of July through the Haverford House fellowship and will be there until next June! Hoping to decide whether to go to graduate school and/or obtain my teacher's certification afterwards."
"I'll be a 5th grade Associate Teacher at Brooke Charter Schools in Boston! It's an amazing network of schools is really closing the achievement gap in Boston."

"Starting at the end of August I will begin work as an Avodah Service Corp Member. I will be living in a communal house in Washington D.C. while working for a non-profit organization called Food and Friends which focuses on addressing issues of food insecurity in the lives of people and families living with long term illness."
