Dear Bryn Mawr Staff and Faculty,
We recognize we've all been working hard in preparation for the start of this year, and we wish you well in seeing it through! We write with exciting news to invite you to participate in the drafting process for the first Anti-Racist Framework for Bryn Mawr College. In collaboration with the President’s Office, the Campaign for Anti-Racist Literacy at Bryn Mawr College (CARLA-BMC) is developing a framework that will serve as a guide in envisioning and actualizing a more inclusive, equitable, and just campus experience.
If you are interested and available to work on this, we will host two initial virtual feedback sessions: Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, from 12:30-1:30 p.m., and Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, from 5-6 p.m. The feedback sessions are structured to support a collaborative community drafting and dialogue process, as well as introduce more community members to the work of CARLA and encourage all who wish to join.
Last week, we led two feedback sessions with students and the process and outcomes were generative. One thing to remember is that our framework is a living document that will go through rounds of revision before formal adoption, and it will be revisited each year. Our goal this year is to create a framework that the College will use in setting accountable priorities for diversity, equity, and inclusion work on campus.
Click here to view the current working document. If you are unable to attend a virtual session, but would like to provide feedback, please email your notes to firstname.lastname@example.org. In light of the reinvigorated struggle for the liberation of Indigenous people, Black people, people of color, and those from other marginalized and oppressed groups, it is our duty to engage together and struggle for freedom. We hope you will join us in the movement!
Best, Chanelle Wilson for CARLA
