Welcome to bad girls and the anarchic pleasures of cross-dressing, grotesque dances, and slapstick.
The canonical films of German silent cinema have garnered critical and scholarly acclaim for their artistic and technological innovation and social and thematic significance. In recent years, however, a contingent of lesser-known genre films has surfaced. Rediscovered were comedies featuring a host of German female stars. This talk will focus primarily on the impact and legacy of these actresses on silent German comedies.
