Praised by The Philadelphia Inquirer for its ability to “move effortlessly between styles,” the program will include A Schumann Bouquet—an adaption from Robert Schumann’s Album for the Young—arranged for the PRISM Quartet by the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer William Bolcom. The program also includes music by Stephen Sondheim, French composer Pierre Max Dubois, folk songs from Latin America, and more recent works by Roshanne Etezady, Michael Daugherty, and Matthew Levy.
The musicians will interact with the audience before and after the performance. No reservations or tickets required. Festive winter treats will be served. This event is free and open to the public.
Learning to Listen 2019–20: The Coleman Sisters' Learning to Listen Series was established in memory of Elizabeth Coleman Mooney ’48 and in honor of Susan Norton Coleman ’45, who wanted future generations of students to derive the same great pleasure from music as they did. The Series features virtuosic musicians in a salon-like atmosphere with tasty refreshments and informative conversation. Learning to Listen events on the Bryn Mawr campus are free and open to the public.
