Moving Forward Together is a series of progressive conversations on July 29, Aug. 6 and Aug. 12 designed to check in with one another, reflect together on the major happenings of the last several months, and continue to build our community priorities for action, especially as they relate to our work around anti-racism. Here is a working overview of the sessions and their guiding questions:
Assignment: In preparation for Session 3, please consider: What would equity, justice or repair would mean at Bryn Mawr?
Session 3: Action | Wednesday, Aug. 12, 7-8:30 p.m. (EDT) Given our experiences and learning about racism and anti-racism, what are the compelling opportunities and priorities for Bryn Mawr at this time in terms of (a) community education and awareness, (b) academic environments, (c) campus/residential climate, and (d) structural changes (e.g., policies, resources)?
All current students, staff, and faculty are invited to participate in these conversations, which will take place by Zoom. We will be guided in our conversations by an outside facilitator: Brighid Dwyer, Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at Princeton University. We are planning these as “progressive” conversations, in which each session builds off the previous one.
We encourage to you to register for all three sessions, but you are welcome to take part in one or two of the sessions if you are unable to participate in all three. Our goals are to build communication between members of the community and begin to identify short-term and long-term priorities for action around equity and anti-racism at the College. We recognize that some people do not have remote access with sufficient bandwidth to participate.
We will be continuing these conversations through the coming year, offering other chances to participate if you cannot do so this summer. If you are interested in future conversations, but cannot participate in these community forums, please contact Ann-Therese Ortíz (firstname.lastname@example.org).
