Interested faculty from the Quaker Consortium (Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore Colleges and the University of Pennsylvania) and other area colleges and universities are invited to participate in a faculty seminar series that will engage the issues and arguments central to Professor Bonnie Honig’s 2017 Flexner Lectures, Theaters of Refusal.
The first seminar is on Thursday, Oct. 26. Subsequent seminars will take place on Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m.; locations are noted below. The series will begin on Oct. 26 with discussion of a foundational text for considering the politics of refusal: Herman Melville’s Bartleby the Scrivner.
The next three sessions (Oct. 31, Nov. 7, and Nov. 14) will take up the Flexner Lecture given the preceding evening; Professor Honig will participate in these three seminars. Each seminar will be facilitated by a Bryn Mawr faculty member and are located in Old Library in the Quita Woodward Room.
