Global Bryn Mawr Fellowship Details

The Global Bryn Mawr Fellowship supports an opportunity for students to expand their global perspective. As part of the application process, students must explain how their proposed project will broaden thinking, provide new perspectives on disciplinary knowledge, hone intercultural communication skills and prepare them to live, work, and lead in a global context after graduation. Bryn Mawr students can apply for funding to support program fees, internships, or organization-led projects.

In-person and remote/virtual projects and programs are eligible for this funding. Travel for in-person projects and programs must comply with the current College travel policy.

Bryn Mawr College undergraduate are eligible to apply and must be enrolled at Bryn Mawr during and after completion of the project. 

In addition, students must also be in good financial, academic and disciplinary standing at the College. Graduate students are not eligible to apply at this time. 

The application deadline for summer is March 15, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Late applications will not be accepted. Students will be notified of their application decision by March 31. 

The Global Bryn Mawr Student Fellowship provides up to $1,500 funding award per student. 

The committee looks for the following:

  1. The application shows that the plan is well thought out and carefully researched. 
  2. The proposed activity clearly connects to the applicant’s interests, goals, and preparation.
  3. If relevant, the organization or institution connected to the proposed project aligns with Bryn Mawr College's mission.  
  4. The application is written with clarity and honesty. 

This funding can be requested to support summer study abroad. Funding cannot be requested to support academic year study abroad programs. 

This funding cannot be used to cover costs associated with time spent on a project. 

Yes, funding can be used to cover passport and visa costs when overseas travel is permitted by the College travel policy.

Program costs should be as accurate as possible. The committee expects most costs to be known by the applicant, but we realize that there may be exceptions, please provide an explanation on your application for these estimates.

Preference is given to students who have not received this funding award before. Past recipients are still welcome to apply.

No. Eligible students must be a current Bryn Mawr student during the time of the project. Also, students must return in the Fall as a current, actively enrolled student.

Yes, international students are eligible to apply for the Global Bryn Mawr Fellowship.

Funding is awarded through a fellowship payment.  In most cases your funding award will be distributed in one payment and according to the fellowship payment schedule set by the Controller’s Office. This date will be confirmed once you submit all required paperwork. Please be sure to check with Financial Aid to understand how a fellowship payment may impact your financial aid award for the next semester. Click here to schedule an appointment.
