A Message from the Chair of the Department of History of Art
Welcome to the History of Art Information Session website. I hope you are doing well during this unusual semester. In lieu of an online gathering, we have collected here all the information you need to explore the History of Art major and minor. If you have questions after exploring the links below, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with us.
Our major and minor requirements are listed on our department website. For questions about the major or minor, or to declare and complete a workplan, please contact Professor Jie Shi, the current Director of Undergraduate Studies.
A list of courses is posted on our website. Scroll down for Fall 2020, and note that some offerings, including cross-listed Haverford course, are not yet available; check back for more information. All courses at the 100 and 200-level are suitable for first year students and/or those with no prior History of Art experience, whereas 300-level seminars are more appropriate for juniors and seniors with some prior experience. For questions about specific courses, please contact the instructor directly. A list of our faculty and staff and their profiles can be found here.
Our senior thesis titles from years past will give you a sense of the kind of research our students pursue.
Our current senior Major Representatives have graciously offered to answer questions about any aspect of the major or minor. If you wish to speak to them, please contact Hanjun Huang or Cecilia Moure.
Finally, if you have questions about this website or administrative matters, please contact our Administrative Assistant Margaret Kelly.
