Flexible Spending Account Open Enrollment for 2019 Plan Year
Election Period Nov. 15-Dec. 14, 2018
Benefits-eligible staff and faculty should have received a memo about the Flexible Spending Account Open Enrollment. All election forms must be returned or online elections made by midnight on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018.
The maximum annual election for Dependent Care Spending will remain at $5,000. The maximum annual election for Medical has increased to $2,700.
The College is continuing to use PayFlex as its third-party claims administrator for the Flexible Spending Accounts.
Flexible spending elections do not automatically roll over. If you currently participate in either or both of the plans, you must affirmatively make new elections for 2019.
You can make your elections online or by using the Flexible Spending Account Election Form:
- Virtual Bryn Mawr login page (navigate to Self Service > Benefits > Benefits Enrollment)
- Election Form (print, complete, and return)
When making your election, please account for the fact that eligible expenses are determined by the date of service, not the date of payment. If you have any concerns about whether a particular expense will be allowed under the IRS rules, please contact Human Resources before submitting your election rather than making assumptions.
We have several documents available to help you understand the Flexible Spending plan.
- Open Enrollment Memo
- Introduction to the Flexible Spending Account
- Flexible Spending Account Plan Description
- Flexible Spending Account Flyer (PayFlex document from 2018; 2019 coming soon)
You must have worked for the College for a full year as of Jan. 1, 2019 before being eligible to participate in the Medical Spending plan. There is no waiting period to participate in the Dependent Care Spending plan.
