Entering First Year Students DRAFT

The guidelines on this page are for students who have accepted Bryn Mawr as a first year student or are in their first semester at Bryn Mawr and have transferrable credit.

NEW Entering First-Year Students (think about title different then above) [accordion]

Students may transfer up to four units of credit from college work done during high school, including courses taken at community colleges, (including dual enrollment programs), or two-year colleges.

Courses must have been regular college classes taken with other college students on the college campus. College courses taught at the high school, and courses for high school students taught at the college or university do not qualify for transfer credit.

Credit will be given only for those community college courses taken before the student was admitted to Bryn Mawr. Community college courses may not be taken during the summer between admission and your first semester at Bryn Mawr.

Transcripts for this work should be submitted to admissions during the application process, but may be submitted later as well.

These credits are “banked” – evaluated by the Registrar’s Office and saved, but not posted - until they are needed. When do I need these credits??????

NEW Using Transfer Credits or Using “Banked” test and transfer work??? [accordion]

Pre-matriculation Test and Transfer credit are “banked”, which means they are reviewed and saved but not posted to the students transcript.  All students who apply as first year students are required to complete their first year as a freshman.

During your time at Bryn Mawr you may want to use pre-matriculation credit to replace a unit in a semester in which you completed an underload (3 units rather than 4 units), or to accelerate and graduate a semester or two early. Students should confer with their Dean about plans for using your banked credit. Please contact the Registrar’s Office to talk about posting your credit.
