Keeping local blood banks stocked is incredibly important in case of large scale emergencies. NPR has reported that 500 people were transported to various hospitals in Las Vegas for treatment of various injuries (both critical and minor) following the shooting. Often the Red Cross will set up emergency blood donation centers in local communities following incidents because the blood banks are depleted. Consider participating in Thursday's on campus drive as an act of solidarity.
Get educated about gun laws and advocate for changes in gun control policies.
Resources include The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and the local Philadelphia organization Cease Fire PA.
As you consider your response to disasters in the community and the world, please also remember the College's resources for self-care. We encourage you to use the resources for yourself and to recommend them to others in the community.
