What have you done after graduating from Bryn Mawr?

I can't believe it has already been almost five years since I graduated from Bryn Mawr! Graduation still feels like yesterday even after all this time. So much has happened in the past five years that it is hard to put into words. Since my time at Bryn Mawr, I have grown as both a person and a mathematician. I am currently in my fifth year of teaching middle school math in the St. Louis area.

How does math connect with your current occupation?

Math is a part of my everyday life, from teaching students how to manipulate equations to using data to analyze and track progress. I would not have it any other way!

How did your math experience at Bryn Mawr prepare you for your current position and life after Bryn Mawr?

I have just started a master's program and am studying educational technology. Bryn Mawr prepared me for the level of rigor I am encountering as I continue my education. My professors taught me to question and explore and I take a lot of the things I've learned from them and use them when I teach and work with students.

Do you have any advice for current or prospective math majors?

My advice for current math majors is to try everything and always ask for help. The wonderful professors of the Bryn Mawr Math Department are one of a kind and are there to help you succeed. Take advantage of it! One of the children I have encountered during my career (a nine year old) once said to me, "Since I'm amazing, my day is amazing. Since my day is amazing, my life is amazing. Since my life is amazing, my future will be amazing, too." Be amazing!
