Class of 2020: Senior Deadlines and Diploma Form

April 6, 2020

This message was sent to undergraduates from the Class 2020 on Monday, April 6, 2020, from Megan Kenny, Associate Registrar.

Good morning,

I hope this email finds you well and settled into remote Bryn Mawr. I write with an announcement, and then a happy request!

Senior Deadlines

The announcement — The Senior Deadlines for both exams and grades are being eliminated for this semester. Seniors will have the full exam period (5/4-5/15) to complete exams and final papers/projects.  All grades will be due on May 22nd at noon.

The Written Work deadline, which is the last day of classes, remains the same as always. But you will have the full exam period for exams and final projects/papers in lieu of exams. Hopefully this will make the end of the semester a little less stressful.

Your graduation date remains unchanged — May 16 for students finishing in May, August 25 for students finishing over the summer, and December 31 for students finishing in the Fall.

Diplomas

And now for the happy request! We can’t order your diploma until you tell us how you would like your name to appear! Please tell me by filling out the Diploma Form in Bionic.  Please fill out the form by this Friday.

Where do I find the Diploma form?

To navigate to the form, you need to logon to Bionic. Then go to Main Menu/BMC Students/Diploma/Graduation Form.  (See screenshot.)

Do I have to put my legal name on my diploma?

No.  You can have your name appear however you'd like!   We pre-populate the form with your legal name (called “Primary” name in Bionic), but you may edit the Diploma Form to change how your name should appear for your diploma.

Note: This will not change your name in Bionic.  If you need to change your legal name, please contact the Registrar’s office for details on how to do this.

Why do you ask for Home state/country?

We include this in the Commencement Program booklet.  You may list either a country or a US state.  (No cities please.)  It can be where you grew up, where you think of as home now, or your country of citizenship - whatever you prefer!   See examples below of how it will appear in print:

Janet Moyer of Pennsylvania
Jamie Smith of Australia

When will I receive my diploma?

You should expect to receive it approximately eight weeks after your graduation.  Your diploma will be mailed to your Home address in Bionic at the time of graduation.  If you want it sent somewhere different, please list that address on the Diploma Form.  If you have an apartment mailbox — keep in mind that the diploma will arrive in a large mailer tube (16”x2”).

Thanks!
Megan
