"My involvement in the French department was both intellectually fulfilling and extremely fun. From making crepes on the French floor in Haffner to watching French movies with other students of French, there was always something French-related going on. My classes covered fascinating topics ranging from crimes and criminality in the 19th and 20th centuries to Francophone African literature. Writing my MA thesis on French-Vietnamese author Linda Lê was also a highlight, one that prepared me perfectly for my subsequent studies in graduate school. In fact, my classes were so fantastic that I continue to consult my syllabi and notes as I prepare my own classes as a professor of French at The George Washington University!"
