Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania.
Judy Balthazar began advising students when she worked in residential life while a graduate student at University of Pennsylvania. After earning her doctorate in Classical Archaeology, she spent a few years working in admissions and then at the summer school at the University of Virginia before coming to Bryn Mawr as Assistant Dean in 1991. Academic advising remains the most rewarding and important part of her job.
Although she no longer excavates professionally, she still enjoys putting on her hiking boots and getting outdoors as much as possible. Dean Balthazar lives in West Chester with her husband and their dog Penelope. Happily, her son Dave has now graduated from college, but sadly, that also means he has flown the coop!
