Detailed Biography:
Maria Ocando Finol came to Bryn Mawr College in 2019, after receiving her PhD in Spanish from Arizona State University. She holds bachelors' degrees in Education in Modern Languages, and Communications, both obtained in her home country, Venezuela. Before coming to Bryn Mawr, she was an MLA/Mellon Connected Academics research fellow (2018-19), and a research assistant for the Humanities Lab at ASU (2017-18). Most recently, she published the short report Past the anthropocentric: Socio-cognitive perspectives for tech-mediated language learning (ARAL, 39), in which she highlights the need to develop language-learning frameworks that harness the transformational power of technology.
