Highlights: Class of 2014 Employment Survey
Response rate and survey method: Members (74) of the GSSWR Class of 2014 were invited to complete a Qualtrics online employment survey. A total of fifty-eight (58) or seventy-eight (78%) percent responded to the survey.
Degrees earned: The majority (80%) earned the MSS Degree, seventeen percent (17%) earned dual MSS and MLSP Degrees, and two earned a Ph.D. Eighty-three percent (83%) concentrated in Clinical Social Work.
Gender: Over eighty-five percent (85%) identified as female, four as male, two as cis woman and one as cis gender.
Age ranges: Forty-five percent (45%) of respondents were 30 years of age or younger, and thirty-one (31%) were 31 to 40 years of age. Twenty-two percent (22%) were in the 40 to 60 year age-range, and two percent (2%) were above 60 years of age.
Experience before GSSWSR program: Eighty-one percent (81%) had paid professional work experience before entering the GSSWSR. Sixteen percent (16%) of these worked for 2 or fewer years, thirty-five percent (35%) worked for 3-4 years, thirty-three percent (33%) previously worked from 5-9 years, and fourteen percent (16%) for 10-30+ years.
Employment: Eighty-nine percent (89%) of respondents were working in full or part-time positions. Nine percent (9%) of the class of 2014 chose not to be employed. Ninety-three percent (93%) of those employed full or part-time serve in Social Work or Human Services.

Of forty-two MSS salaries ranging from $30,000 to $68,000, the average salary is $44,350. Salary averages for 2012 and 2013 were $42,200 and $45,000 respectively. Salaries of “Nonsupervisory Practitioners” (22) ranged from $32,000 to $67,000 with an average of $43,000. The six “Supervisor/Coordinator” salaries ranged from $32,000 to $67,000 with an average of $44,000. Respondents (7) who identified their roles as “Director/Manager” reported salaries ranging from $34,000 to $66,000 with an average of $49,000. The average hourly rate of pay for part-time positions is $28.00 with a range of $15.00 to $40.00 dollars per hour.
License Exam Pass Rates:
In a separate anonymous survey of 150 graduates from the classes of 2013 and 2014, 76 (greater than 50 % response rate) responded. Of the 76 respondents who took the LSW exam, 75 passed. Most are licensed in PA, two in NJ, one each in LA, MN, MD, MA, GA, CA.
