Bryn Mawr requires all Graduate and Postbaccalaureate students to have adequate health insurance. For your benefit and convenience, there is a Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan offered through the College and administered by Collegiate Insurance Resources (CIR). The plan described below is for students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents who do not have a comparable personal policy. International students are covered by a different plan described in a separate letter.
The plan is compliant with the Affordable Care Act. For 2017-18 the cost of the graduate plan is $4,576 ($2,288 per semester), which includes insurance premiums and the fee for the Bryn Mawr College Health Center. The cost is billed in two installments, one each semester. Monthly payments can be arranged through the Controllers Office. The plan includes health insurance which gives access to both network and out-of-network doctors and hospitals, prescription coverage, and discount vision care. The plan also includes free visits to doctors, nurse practitioners, and nurses at the College Health Center. All students must complete the Health Center’s Admission Health Form whether or not they take the College Insurance, and can have one free counseling appointment to determine an appropriate referral to a community mental health provider. Please see a description of available services at the Bryn Mawr Health Center.
All students (new and returning) are required to complete an on-line insurance registration process by August 30. To start this process, go here. Select “Health Insurance Enroll/Waive” from the blue navigation bar and follow the instructions. Have your family insurance information at hand. After registration is completed on the insurance site, you will have the necessary access to plan enrollment, ID cards, claim forms and other services such as lists of network doctors and hospitals, plan documents, and tools for healthy lifestyles. Brochure and login information is available on here.
Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the coverage offered by the health insurance. There are several resources available. General information is posted here and CIR can be reached at 800-322-9901 to answer questions and provide additional information. At the College you may contact Renee Williams, Associate Director of Student Accounts, by calling 610-526-5500 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
