The Inclusive Teaching Consultation Group is open to all faculty at GSSWSR, including full time and adjunct faculty, and PhD students currently teaching or about to start teaching in the next term. Participants who attend five or more sessions receive free CEUs.
Our aims are the following:
- To support each other’s teaching across the social work curriculum related to social identities and intersectional oppression
- To raise awareness of antiracist and anti-oppression efforts within the field, with implications for our students and their learning
- To help each other to continue to develop skills for facilitating classroom dialogue about identity, inequity, and intersectional oppression
We provide peer consultation to faculty, discuss classroom scenarios as a group, read recent scholarship about inclusion in social work pedagogy, and host discussions with guest speakers on related topics.
Our monthly meeting times are 1:30-2:30 in the Katherine Lower Conference Room, alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The dates for the 2017-18 academic year are the following:
- Wednesday, October 4
- Tuesday, November 14
- Wednesday, January 24
- Tuesday, February 20
- Wednesday, March 21
- Tuesday, April 24
- Wednesday, May 23
Faculty who participate in five or more of our sessions will earn free CEUs (5 CEUs for 5 sessions, 6 CEUs for 6 sessions, and 7 CEUs for 7 sessions). All CEUs will be awarded at the end of the 2017-18 academic year.
