Earth Week
Earth Week engages the entire Bryn Mawr College community in understanding progress toward our sustainability goals and what actions can lessen our carbon footprint and reduce our use of non-renewable resources.
2023 Earth Week Events
Bryn Mawr College is committed to caring for the environment, and many of our facilities are cutting-edge examples of on-campus sustainability. A campus tour visited locations including the Community Garden, the dining halls, the Well, Park Science Center, the pond, and more. Facilities Services also unveiled our new fully electric maintenance vehicles purchased as part of our campus efforts to lessen the College’s Carbon footprint and to plant new trees on campus.

Despite the Covid-19 disruption, we still celebrated Earth Day with a number of events:
- Self-guided campus tree tour.
- Virtual showing of Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin
- Outdoor dance ensemble performance of signals by the Merion Green hammocks
- Virtual community forum on sustainability and Bryn Mawr's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2035
- Tree planting at Perry Garden
- Clothing swap outside of Old Library
2020 Earth Week
Despite the Covid-19 disruption, we still celebrated Earth Day virtually:
- Online Earth Day events through Earthday.org, Sierra Club, and Citizen Science
- Sustainability guides: COVID and sustainability, Meditation, A beginner's guide to gardening, Regrowing kitchen scraps indoors, and Composting indoors
- Ideas for celebrating at home: Make a mask DIY, Earth Day crafts, and Plant-based canned food recipes
- Environmental documentaries: Anthropocene, No Impact Man, Seed, Homeland, Standing Rock, The Island President, and Queen of the Sun
2019 Earth Week Events
Earth Week 2019 kicked off with Earth Day on Monday, April 21.
