ENTRIES IN LITERARY CONTESTS DUE MARCH 31

Judges are seeking entries in seven annual Bryn Mawr literary competitions, with prizes ranging from $100 to $1,000, by March 31. One of the contests, the Seymour Adelman Poetry Prize, is open to all members of the Bryn Mawr faculty, staff and student bodies; another is open to Bryn Mawr students in all programs. The other prizes, for literary efforts ranging from poetic translation to personal essays, are reserved for Bryn Mawr undergraduates. The deadline for entries in all contests is March 31, but other details, including who accepts submissions, vary. Click here to download a Word document with a complete list of contest rules. The prizes to be offered:

• The Academy of American Poets Prize: $100
  For a group of three to six poems submitted by an undergraduate
  
  
• The Anne Kirschbaum Winkelman Literary Prize: $500
  For the most original short story submitted by an undergraduate
  
  
• The Richmond Lattimore Prize for Poetic Translation: $500
  For the best poetic translation submitted by a Bryn Mawr undergraduate.
  
  
• The Katherine Fullerton Gerould Award: $100
  For fiction (short story, novella, or portion of a novel), informal essays (excluding critical papers and academic essays) or poetry submitted by an undergraduate.
  
  
• The Alexandra Peschka Prize: $300
  For the best piece of imaginative writing in prose submitted by a Bryn Mawr freshman or sophomore.
  
  
• The Bain-Swiggett Poetry Prize: $300
  For the best single poem submitted by a Bryn Mawr student (undergraduate, graduate or other programs).
  
  
• The Seymour Adelman Poetry Award: $1,000
  To support scholarly research on a poet or poetry; support the writing of poetry; encourage the study of poetry in an interdisciplinary context; recognize a particular piece or body of poetic writing; or offset publishing costs for a collection of poetry or scholarly work about a poet or poetry. Open to students, faculty and staff members of Bryn Mawr College.
