ON CAMPUS: COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT, DIVERSITY CONVERSATIONS, PRESIDENTIAL OFFICE HOURS

TGIF, ETC — Senior Instructional Technologist Laura Blankenship will open her weekly TGIF series of workshops this Friday, Sept. 10, from 1 to 2 p.m. with an introduction to the new Educational Technology Center. Housing Blankenship, Web Applications Developer Mike Zarro and Language Learning Center Director Ben Johnston, the ETC will be a resource for faculty, students and staff who want to learn more about technology or improve their skills. The Center will be equipped with several laptops to allow people to sample new applications as well as a small library focusing on theory as well as practice.

Diversity Conversations — The Center for Science in Society will continue its popular biweekly series of Diversity Conversations this fall, beginning this Friday, Sept. 10, with a discussion titled "Re-imaging Our Customs," led by Customs co-Head Jackney Prioly and Director of Intercultural Affairs Christopher MacDonald-Dennis. The conversations are open to all members of the Bryn Mawr community; they take place on Fridays at noon at the Multicultural Center. Lunch is provided.

Owls on the Prowl — On Saturday, Sept. 11, the Community Service Office will sponsor its annual Owls on the Prowl event for entering students. The CSO partners with a variety of community organizations that welcome help from volunteers to introduce new Mawrters to opportunities for service in the area. Participants will meet in the Merion parking lot, where the CSO will provide transportation to service sites. For more information, contact your customs person or call the CSO at 610-526-7320.

President's Office Hours — President Vickers has announced that she will be keeping open office hours this semester on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 p.m. Exceptions are Oct. 12, during Fall Break, and Oct. 26, when the president will be traveling.
