THREE CAMPUS BUILDING PROJECTS TO BE PRESENTED
Planners will offer a glimpse of the potential Bryn Mawr future at a presentation of three campus building projects on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 4 p.m. in Thomas Great Hall. Feasibility studies for the projects have recently been completed, and the College's Council on Institutional Priorities is interested in collecting reactions and suggestions from the on-campus community before presenting the studies to the BMC Board of Trustees at the Board's December meeting. Those who are unable to attend the meeting at 4 p.m. may see an abbreviated presentation of the projects at an open meeting of the BMC Athletic Association at 9 p.m. in Thomas 110.
As President Nancy J. Vickers reported in a recent e-mail to the community, the potential projects are "an addition to the gym that would include a community fitness center and create a bridge to Cambrian Row; a renovation of Guild to create an information commons and connect it to Dalton Hall; and a renovation of Goodhart Hall to dramatically improve arts space on campus and address serious deferred maintenance needs in the building."
According to Facilities Services Assistant Director for Planning and Projects Christopher Gluesing, the presentation will open with a brief introduction by Vickers and Director of Theater Mark Lord, who will frame the projects in terms of the overall goals of the College's Plan for a New Century. Slide presentations dealing with the individual projects will follow. Director of Athletics and Physical Education Amy Campbell will present the fitness-center plan; Associate Professor of Economics David Ross will present the Guild-Information Commons plan; and Lord will present the Goodhart plan. After the formal presentations have been made, physical models of each of the projects will be on display.
