'TIS THE SEASON FOR HOLIDAY AND STUDENT CONCERTS
As exam week approaches, beleaguered scholars seeking a brief respite from academic toil can choose from an array of holiday concerts. A brief review:
Thursday, Dec. 9, 8 p.m., Founders Great Hall, Haverford: The Bryn Mawr-Haverford Chamber Singers. This mixed choir of 30 voices will perform Benjamin Britten's “Ceremony of Carols” with harpist Brett Ford, and selections from the Alfred Burt Carol collection.
Friday, Dec. 10, 7:30 p.m., McCrate Auditorium, Haverford: Student Chamber Music. Featuring works by Robert Schumann, Maurice Wright , Heitor Villa Lobos and Antonin Dvorak.
Friday, Dec. 10, 8 p.m., Goodhart Music Room: A Lavender’s Blue Christmas. The student a cappella group will be joined by Haverford’s Humtones.
Sunday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m., Thomas Great Hall: Renaissance Choir Christmas Concert. This annual event features beloved Christmas songs and a carol singalong. Sheet music is provided.
Monday, Dec. 13, 7:30 p.m., Marshall Auditorium, Haverford: Student Chamber Music. Featuring works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Glazunov, Saint Saens, Maurice Ravel, Leonard Bernstein, Paul Dukas, Rodrigues Vale and Steve Reich.
Tuesday, Dec. 14, 7:30 p.m., Goodhart Music Room: Student Chamber Music. Featuring works by Gioacchino Rossini, Arthur Honneger, Franz Schubert and W.A. Mozart.
All events are free and open to the public.
