Body Image Council on the Web. The Body Image Council, a campus group that has been educating the College community about body-image issues and eating disorders since 2000, recently unveiled its new Web site at http://www.brynmawr.edu/bodyimage/. The site, designed by Hannah Wilhelm '05 with a logo created by Public Affairs Production Associate Tracy Youells, offers information about upcoming meetings and events; it also gathers resources for students, faculty and staff, family and friends. A contact list offers names, e-mail addresses and phone numbers for a peer support group and several counseling options.
ON CAMPUS: COMEDY NIGHT, LEARNING TO LISTEN
Comedy Night. On Friday, Jan. 21, the Student Activities Office will host its traditional back-to-school comedy night, featuring self-described "funny American girl who happened to be born in Korea and adopted by Swedish parents in suburban Minnesota" Amy Anderson and Dan Gabrie, former host of International Channel's "Asia Street Comedy." The event, which is free and open to all Tri-Co students, begins at 8 p.m. in Thomas Great Hall.
Learning to Listen. The Office for the Arts' "Learning to Listen" series resumes on Sunday, Jan. 23, with a lecture/recital of flute and classical guitar by the Nelson-Sessler Duo. Discussion will include background on the music and composers such as Christian Gottlieb Scheidler, Mauro Giuliani, Jacques Ibert, Maurice Ravel, Jose Luis Merlin and Sessler himself, as well as the instruments and this particular combination of flute and guitar. Light refreshments will be served.
All "Learning to Listen" events are free to Tri-Co students, faculty and staff, but seating is limited, so students should preregister with Helene Studdy at the Office for the Arts at 610-526-5210 or by e-mail at hstuddy@brynmawr.edu.
